When the touring festival Rock The Country announced its inaugural lineup last month, it sure looked like the whole thing was positioned as a MAGA-friendly affair. The country-heavy bill is headlined by Kid Rock and Jason Aldean, two veteran acts who have pushed hard into right-wing territory in recent years, and it’s full of fellow travelers. But since then, a number of acts have dropped off of the festival, and Rock The Country has canceled its stop in Anderson, South Carolina, one of eight “small towns” on its touring schedule. Today, festival organizers made a public statement about that stop.
