Recently the actor, who’s up for the Best Actor Oscar this weekend for his role in Marty Supreme, had this to say during a Variety town hall with Matthew McConaughey: “I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to the ballet and opera people out there.” Opera singers and ballet companies around the world have since clapped back at Chalamet for those comments, and now you can count Doja Cat among opera’s defenders.
