Earlier this week you may have seen headlines about a fake Angine de Poitrine supposedly “touring Russia.” The claim traces back to a recent Exclaim! feature about the Québécois math rock sensations, who have garnered considerable attention for their adventurous music, outlandish papier-mâché masks, and excessively black-and-white polka-dotted visual identity. (Despite compelling evidence unearthed by online sleuthing, Khn and Klek haven’t confirmed their identities.) Angine de Poitrine are popular! They were heroes of Record Store Day Canada! And yet, the story didn’t sound quite right to me.
