Heather Sawyer has been in Madison punk bands like the Hussy, Proud Parents, and Boo/Hiss, and she makes her own spiky, gnarly, catchy DIY tracks as Heather The Jerk. Just a few months ago, she impressed us mightily with the cassette album Scroll If You Love Devil, which our own Chris DeVille described as “a bit like Vivian Girls meets Illuminati Hotties meets Sheer Mag.” Now, she’s got an absolutely sick new one-off single, a joyous 74-second sugar-rush basher called “Write A Letter.” It’s the best piece of Ramones-core I’ve heard since the last Dark Thought record; those little xylophone dings just kill me.
