The veteran singer-songwriter Carly Simon hasn’t performed live since a 2018 Tibet House benefit at Carnegie Hall, and she hasn’t released an album of new songs since 2008’s This Kind Of Love. She did not attend her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2022. Last month, however, Simon announced a new album called Comes In Waves, and she shared the lead single “Howl.” Now, Simon has revealed the reason for her return: She’s dealing with Parkinson’s disease and the form of skin cancer known as basal cell carcinoma. If she’s going to release any more music, she has to do it now.
