These days, one of the few obvious ways that a band or an artist can level up and achieve a new measure of mainstream fame is by getting booked as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. When Geese or Dijon or, hell, Sombr makes an SNL debut, that’s a sign that they’ve reached a new pinnacle. Even if people hate them, they at least notice them. For many years, a guy named Brian Siedlecker has booked every musical guest on SNL. No longer.
