Here’s an important thing to note about Julia Jacklin’s new single “The Hardest Thing”: It has a really cool video. The Danny Cohen-directed clip is a single drone shot that lazily orbits what I’m sure is a very famous Melbourne skyscraper. As we circle this big-ass building, the camera slowly pans in on Julia Jacklin, who’s up on the roof by herself, playing this song. You could not possibly pay me enough to stand on this rooftop and do anything. But Jacklin does it, and she looks cool as hell.
