Macklemore has been in the news a lot lately. The onetime pop-rap hitmaker was among the first mainstream figures to protest against Israel’s genocidal campaign in Palestine and to loudly and accurately use the word “genocide” to describe it. Macklemore was booked as an opener on Ed Sheeran’s current stadium tour, but Sheeran dropped him at the behest of stadium owner Robert Kraft. Famously, this led to every other opener on that tour, as well as Sheeran’s own backing band, quitting the tour in solidarity. Sheeran said that he’s “not complicit,” then cried about it onstage. Meanwhile, Macklemore continues to take actual action.
