Every year since 1991, MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charitable arm, has honored a Person Of The Year at a gala on Grammys weekend. Sometimes they give the award to persons, plural, rather than a person, singular. In 2027, those persons will be U2. The post U2 Are The MusiCares 2027 Persons Of The Year appeared first on Stereogum.

In April, the young-ish Chicago quartet Friko released Something Worth Waiting For, a staggering indie rock album we rated as one of this year’s absolute best. This Friday, they’ll release an expanded version of that record. After sharing “Necessary” along with the announcement, the band followed up this week with another bonus track, the raw and catchy “Dirty Diamond.” It …

Jack Latham, the UK producer known as Jam City, recently assisted on Logic1000’s single “Jersey,” and he’ll release his own new album My World later this month. We’ve already posted the title track, which featurees Aidan, Bawo and Ox Eye. Yesterday, Jam City followed that track with “2am,” a new collaboration with the London singer-songwriter Gianna. The post Jam City …

Back in 2016, Jenny Lewis formed the indie supergroup Nice As Fuck with Au Revoir Simone’s Erika Forster and the Like’s Tennessee Thomas, and they played their first show at a Bernie Sanders benefit. The surprise-released their self-titled debut a few months later. They toured. They played Colbert. And then they were gone. Now, they’re back. The post Nice As …

Kings Of Leon’s catalog is about to hit the double digits. In November, the longstanding Southern rock family band will release O My Beloved, their 10th album. Lead single “My Whole World” is loose and easygoing, with Caleb Followill declaring, “I’m grateful today for my whole world/ That sweet peace of mind.” I mean it as a compliment when I …

Sometimes, I like to get on this website and stoke anticipation, mentioning that I’ve heard some unreleased album and that you should be excited for it. This is not one of those times. Tinashe’s upcoming LP Popstar is one of my most eagerly awaited records of the fall, and I haven’t heard it yet. I can’t wait. Early singles “Too …

Finally, Victoria Monét season approaches. Next month, the ultra-talented R&B star and seasoned songwriter will release Frequency Of Love, the long-awaited follow-up to her 2023 breakout Jaguar II. We’ve already posted the early singles “Let Me” and “Reach Out,” and at least one of them is really good. Today, Monét announces a big fall tour and shares another single. The …

After experiencing one of the most significant rock-band breakouts in recent memory over the past couple years, Geese are the subject of a new Rolling Stone cover story by esteemed journalist and friend of the site Simon Vozick-Levinson. You should read it, but I’m going to pass along a couple choice tidbits regarding the psyop allegations. The post Geese Address …

Sometimes, you just need to sing about how you’ve seen a million faces and rocked them all. Nashville battleship Eric Church is one of our most restless and exploratory mainstream country stars, as he showed on last year’s Evangeline Vs. The Machine. But Church really excels at big, hearty old-school Southern rock songs, and his new single “On The Road” …

I’m currently reading Joelle Taylor’s surreal The Night Alphabet, a real trip of a book written in poetic prose. More or less, it follows a main character with the ability to fall into the past lives of other people, what she calls “rememberings.” There’s some beautiful overlap between the book and the magnetic new single from Melbourne-based indie folk musician …
