Usher and Chris Brown are currently co-headlining a massive stadium tour, which has yielded lots of bizarre controversies, surprisingly all involving Usher and not Brown. Usher went viral for inviting a woman onstage in Nashville for some faux-flirtatious grinding and then dismissing her when she clearly wasn’t into the bit. He went viral again for allegedly sending a body double …

In a couple of weeks, Atlanta metal titans Mastodon will return with Marrow Deep, their first album since the sudden, recent death of former member Brent Hinds. We’ve already posted early singles “Your Ghost Again” and the Josh Homme collab “Snakes For Dinner,” and the album also has contributions from members of Gojira, Clutch, Converge, and Lamb Of God, as …

Oh, Tinashe is going for it. Next month the resurgent dance-pop/R&B cult hero will hit us with her new album Popstar, and early singles “Too Easy” and “Crash Out” are extremely encouraging. Today, Tinashe shares the all-out dancefloor blitz “Melatonin,” which is already my favorite of the Popstar singles. This thing goes so much harder than a song called “Melatonin” …

There’s this Oakland band called Unity, right? Not an easy name to search. When Scott assigned this post, I almost threw my laptop out the window. How am I supposed to know all this shit? I don’t. I never heard of Unity. Well, now I know about Unity, and I can tell you that they are good. I guess it …

We’ve been waiting for this one for a while. Erykah Badu, one of our greatest living artists, hasn’t released a proper album since 2010’s New Amerykah Part Two (Return Of The Ankh), and she hasn’t put out a full-length since her 2015 mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone. Some time back, though, Badu revealed that she was working on …

It has been about a decade since the world heard from the mathy Oxford indie rockers TTNG. The band, formerly known as This Town Needs Guns, started in 2002, establishing a tricky but passionate sound that drew clear inspiration from Midwest bands like American Football. Original singer/guitarist Stuart Smith left the band after the release of their 2009 debut Animals, …

Over the next week, a band called FFO: Chillin will open five shows for Joyce Manor and Glitterer. FFO: Chillin hail from Concord, New Hampshire, they have a couple EPs to their name (which is great, by the way), and they play hard, melodic rock music that I guess I’d call post-hardcore? New single “All I Know” is out on …

Chicago’s sprawling Bohemian National Cemetery was first founded in 1877, and since 2013, local promoters Empty Bottle Presents have been using it as the the venue for their Beyond The Gate concert series. Over the years, acts like Grouper, Cindy Lee, Kim Gordon, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor have played at the cemetery, and more shows are planned. Those shows …

Time to get stupid excited: There’s a new Dummy album coming soon. The LA electronic rock retro-futurists have signed to Polyvinyl for the follow-up to 2024’s Album Of The Week-worthy Free Energy. Titled do you love the color of the sky?, it’s out in October, co-produced by Dummy and Joo-Joo Ashworth, and preceded by today’s lead single “Full Spectrum Dominance.” …
