The fast and nasty Oakland hardcore band Cell Rot put out an album called Parasite last year, the first half of a two-part project recorded with the iconic punk and metal producer Jack Shirley. Soon they’ll drop the second half, Paradise. On opening track and lead single “Paradise/Parasite II,” they hammer home the resemblance between those two words and the relationship between the concepts. “Paradise! Searchin’ for your paradise!” growls vocalist Kyle. “Parasite! You’re feedin’ like a parasite!”
