A few weeks ago, the Washington, DC punk band Ekko Astral announced their sophomore album the beltway is burning and the second edition of Liberation Weekend, their trans-rights music festival. They also shared the news that drummer Miri Tyler would play her last set with the band at Liberation Weekend. Soon afterward, the Washington City Paper reported that frontwoman Jael Holzman filed a peace order petition against Tyler. Shortly after that, Topshelf Records, the bands label, announced that it “can no longer support Ekko Astral and will not be releasing their album the beltway is burning.” Instead, the band plans to self-release the record.
