Even in years when they don’t release a million records and tour like demons, Australian psych-rock heroes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard make their presence felt. This year, for instance, King Gizzard released their incredibly cool orchestral album Phantom Island and removed their music from Spotify, selling their dozens of albums as pay-what-you-want downloads on Bandcamp instead. They also staged the first-ever edition of their Field Of Vision festival in Colorado, where they covered the Dead Kennedys with Jello Biafra. Next year, King Gizzard will only play a few North American live shows, but they’ll make them count.
