AFI are on Run For Cover records now! That’s fucking crazy. Run For Cover, founded in 2004, has a pretty diverse roster, but it has earned a rep as perhaps the finest post-hardcore label in the game, thanks in part to classics from bands like Tigers Jaw, Title Fight, Basement, Citizen, and Turnover. Now, they have signed arguably the biggest …

Pip Blom is the leader of the Amsterdam indie trio that’s also called Pip Blom; they released their EP Grip a couple of months ago. Willem Smit, meanwhile, is the leader and sole permanent member of the Amsterdam indie collective Personal Trainer; their album Still Willing came out last year. Last week, Paramore leader Hayley Williams released something. Actually, she released 17 somethings. Williams shared 17 new songs, first on her website and then everywhere else. This new chunk of music is officially not a solo album, though people have received it as one. Instead, it’s 17 individual singles, shared without care for order or priority. But now she’s made …

Retirement Party are back from a two-year hiatus, or two-year retirement, if you will. The emo outfit broke up in 2022 and then revealed a new lineup the following year for some shows. Now they’re announcing a new EP called Nothing To Hear Without A Sound.

It was cool to learn that experimental rock heroes Bill Orcutt, Steve Shelley, and Ethan Miller had teamed up as a trio under the intuitive band name Orcutt Shelley Miller. In 2018, Algernon Wallader returned with reissues of old records. A few years later, they began playing their first shows in a decade. Now, the emo revival heroes are finally announcing a new album called Trying Not To Have A Thought, and it’s their first since 2011’s Parrot Flies.

They’ve been on the road, playing convulsive live shows and releasing occasional non-album singles. The band had plans to tour across the world later this year. They were going to hit New Zealand, Australia, and Japan in October and then …

Joan Shelley: When is she bad? Never, that’s when. The Kentucky folk artist has been making soft, bucolic, enormously comforting records for a decade and a half. She’s done a lot of work with a lot of different collaborators, but her fundamental approach never really changes, and neither does the level of quality. Last year, Shelley released her Mood Ring …

Billy Strings had a fun weekend of performing with Dead & Company for the Grateful Dead’s 60th-anniversary party. The bluegrass star has just been revealed as part of the 14th season of King Of The Hill — which premiered today on Hulu — by doing the theme song.

Last week, 2hollis brought nonstop energy to his massive Lollapalooza set. Since the release of his phenomenal album star in April, the hyperpop rap sensation collaborated with friends, debuted unreleased songs at festivals, and was revealed as part of this year’s Día De Los Deftones lineup. Today he dropped a new song called “fly” on SoundCloud.
