Alt-rock legends Garbage are releasing their new album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light at the end of the month. We’ve already heard the single “There’s No Future In Optimism” and now they’ve shared another called “Get Out My Face AKA Bad Kitty,” which calls out patriarchal bullshit.

The big-deal jazz-pop star Laufey is from Iceland, but she shouldn’t have any problems playing English-language word games, since she partly grew up in Washington, DC. Also, pretty much everyone in Iceland speaks English anyway. Don’t get cocky. Don’t think you have some sort of natural advantage over Laufey. There’s a reason that NYT Games made Laufey the focus of …

Bay City rapper That Mexican OT has been on a steady come-up for a couple of years, and he continues to work extremely hard. His Texas Technician mixtape was one of my favorite rap albums of last year. Since that came out, he’s continued to crank out a steady stream of collaborative bangers — songs like “1982” with Curren$y and …

Personally, I think it’s a bold move to have a self-titled single in addition to a self-titled album, let alone announcing both of them simultaneously. But, sometimes, audacity is a beautiful thing to behold. Such is the case for the seven-piece group from Ann Arbor, MI named Racing Mount Pleasant. Today, they’ve pulled off the trifecta, sharing “Racing Mount Pleasant” …

Lord Huron, the hugely popular LA project led by singer-songwriter Ben Schneider, are getting ready to head out on a massive tour where people like Feist and Waxahatchee will join them as openers. This year, they’ve released two singles, the Kristen Stewart collab “Who Laughs Last?” and the adult alternative radio hit “Nothing I Need.” You don’t get any bonus …

Here’s something fun. Pearl Jam were on the actual Lollapalooza tour in 1992, but they were not on the “Homperpalooza” episode of The Simpsons. Peter Frampton was on the “Homerpalooza” episode of The Simpsons, but he was never on the actual Lollapalooza tour. But last night in Nashville, the unlikely team of Pearl Jam and Peter Frampton joined forces.

There he was: Britt Daniel, carrying his camera around Times Square. It was the fall of 2003, maybe 2004. I was a scrubby Midwestern undergrad visiting New York City for the CMJ Music Marathon, a sort of “SXSW in NYC” situation where buzz bands played umpteen times in venues around town. Spoon were not on the lineup, and setlist.fm does …

Denver’s Madeline Johnston gave us her latest Midwife album No Depression In Heaven last fall, and today she’s sharing a B-side that surely was not left off the tracklist for quality control reasons. “Signs” finds Midwife’s gauzy dream-state slowcore applied to the subject of grief. It’s about searching for glimpses of the people we’ve lost, trying to find whatever connection …

These days, LVL UP’s Dave Benton is plenty busy with his Trace Mountains solo project. Last year, Benton released Into The Burning Blue, the album that he recorded with Japanese Breakfast’s Craig Hendrix. Later this month, he’ll head out on a UK tour that includes a bunch of dates with MJ Lenderman. And right now, Benton has a new Trace …
