Geese are playing Saturday Night Live. It’s to be expected, given that Cameron Winter and friends — makers of Getting Killed, our pick for the best album of 2025 — have been anointed as an Important New York City Rock Band and are being embraced as such by all the old-guard local institutions. A little over a decade ago, Dave Grohl broke his leg onstage in Sweden, prompting the Foo Fighters to cancel a bunch of tour dates before the frontman eventually returned to perform in an ergonomic motorized throne. Now, unfortunately, his bandmate Pat Smear has succumbed to a similar fate, having recently “smashed the shit out of his left foot” during a “bizarre …

Lately, the Manchester trio Shaking Hand have been cranking out long, winding, bleary post-rock tracks in the lead-up to their self-titled debut album. It’s dropping next week, and they’ve got another eight-minute journey out today to remind us. “Cable Ties” builds on the vibe they’ve been crafting with “Over The Coals” and “Mantras,” building slowly… The post Shaking Hand – …

We’re about a month out from Normal Isn’t, Tool/A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan’s latest Puscifer album. Today brings the project’s final advance single, “ImpetuoUs,” a creeping electronic track that leans into the feminine side of Keenan’s vocals.
