The other week, Santa Monica’s Ocean Way Festival was canceled due to beach erosion. Now, the first day of Maryland’s Oceans Calling Festival has been canceled for similar reasons. The post Oceans Calling Cancels Tomorrow’s Sets appeared first on Stereogum.

Hey, Cameron Winter! I was just talking about that guy! I saw Geese play Richmond’s Iron Blossom Festival on Sunday, and that got me reflecting on the nature of hype. Meanwhile, frontman Winter recently discussed the psyop allegations in a Rolling Stone cover story, and his Paul Thomas Anderson-directed concert film will soon start screening. (There’s an accompanying live album, …

The big dogs are back! It has been nearly nine years since U2 released Songs Of Experience, their last proper studio album of new music. This fall, right around the band’s 50th anniversary, they will return with a new LP called Carnaval de Luz. The first thing that you need to know about it is that Bono wears a fucking …

Spencer Radcliffe is back as Blithe Field. The Midwestern musician is releasing his new album Soft Core Hard Wear, the follow-up to 2023’s Grits Kissed, next month via Orindal Records. The first preview of the project is the single “Milked Rainbow,” which is an incredible title alone. But the song itself is also mystifying and weird. It’s fuzzy like a …

Electronic producer Anthony Naples come from New York (not Naples) and makes tastefully bangin’ dance tracks. His album Scanners came out last year, and now he’s got two more jams on a new single. For the past few years, the people at Run For Cover Records have worked together to put on Something In The Way, an extremely cool annual Boston festival that brings together different strains of cool-as-hell guitar music. This year’s edition, for instance, had …

Macklemore has been in the news a lot lately. The onetime pop-rap hitmaker was among the first mainstream figures to protest against Israel’s genocidal campaign in Palestine and to loudly and accurately use the word “genocide” to describe it. Macklemore was booked as an opener on Ed Sheeran’s current stadium tour, but Sheeran dropped him at the behest of stadium …

Julia Jacklin is changing her mind. There’s power in that. When I spoke with the Melbourne-based musician about her last album Pre Pleasure, in 2022, she imagined that her future self might approach music with more calculation. “Maybe when I have a bit more time, I’ll come in with real intentions. But at the moment, whatever happens is what the …
