Next week Prewn, aka LA-based Izzy Hagerup, is releasing her new album System, and we’re properly stoked about it. If you’ve heard advance tracks “System” and “Dirty Dog,” maybe you feel the same way. Now, in accordance with the customs and rhythms of the Independent Music Album Rollout, we get one more Prewn song to whet our appetites for the …

Florence + The Machine are rolling out their new album Everybody Scream, a process that started with the release of the title track and its witchy music video. It continues today, as Florence Welch and associates have unleashed “One Of The Greats” upon us. This one’s a ragged rocker that furthers the spooky overtones of the previous track.

Before today, perhaps the only thing Courting and RXK Nephew had in common were their shared status as Stereogum Artists To Watch. Today, their worlds collide, as the genre-jumping Liverpool indie band welcomes the Rochester street rap surrealist onto a new track. It’s called “rollback freestyle,” and, after a brief buildup, it finds Neph kicking out bars like “I’ll start …

In the video for his new solo song “Love How It Feels,” we see Iceage frontman Elias Rønnenfelt slinking through what appears to be a Muay Thai gym. He’s in the ring, and he’s wearing a suit, lip-syncing with a mouthguard in his mouth and a title belt on his shoulder. He’s the coolest-looking human being I’ve seen in a …

We named World News one of the Best New Artists Of 2024, and so far, their forthcoming debut album seems promising. That record doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the London post-punks are planning on releasing it early next year, and it’ll most likely include their nice May single “Don’t Want To Know,” as well as another new …

Charli XCX and her sometimes producer/the 1975 drummer George Daniel tied the knot back in July. The pair got married at Hackney Town Hall during a small, close-friends-and-family type situation, which looked fabulously low-key. Last weekend, however, Charli and Daniel took over a Sicilian village for their big official wedding bash, with tons of their musical friends in attendance. According …

I have been actively rooting for the young Buffalo hardcore band Spaced since I saw them open for Angel Du$t a few years ago, and they continue to blow me away. They make big, searing anthems that just hit me in the gut every time. I think they’re special.

Raw Brigade are some kind of miracle. They come from Colombia, and they make fast, aggressive, ’80s-style hardcore. Somehow, they have enough energy and resources that they’re always on tour. I’ve seen Raw Brigade a bunch of times simply in the natural course of going to hardcore shows. How is it even possible that a band can come from another …

It’s completely insane to think that the Rolling Stones are still making new music, but that’s apparently what’s happening. In 2023, the band released Hackney Diamonds, the new album that they recorded with producer Andrew Watt, a pop producer who became every classic rock legend’s favorite collaborator. It was better than anyone had any right to expect. Just a few …

Kai Slater is keeping the music flowing this year, and doing it for some of the greatest record labels in underground rock history. After reissuing last year’s Sharp Pins album Radio DDR on K Records in March, Slater shifted gears from indie-pop to put out his post-punk band Lifeguard’s first album for Matador, Ripped And Torn, in June. He’s got …
