Glasgow indie rockers the Yummy Fur were a going concern for most of the ’90s, but they called it quits in 1999, the same year keyboardist Mark Gibbons died by suicide. Two members of the band, Alex Kapranos and Paul Thomson, went on to co-found Franz Ferdinand, which added Yummy Fur guitarist Dino Bardot many years later. (Another noteworthy connection: Lawrence Worthington, who drummed for the Yummy Fur before Thomson, went on to play in the Male Nurse and Country Teasers.)
