Wednesday Cover MJ Lenderman For April Fool’s Day In Boston

As far as we know, MJ Lenderman is still technically a member of Wednesday, though he stepped back from touring with them in early 2025. I’m sure a lot of factors went into that decision, but two main reasons come to mind: The runaway success of Lenderman’s 2024 solo album Manning Fireworks, and the fact that his long-term relationship with Wednesday bandleader Karly Hartzman had ended. With new live guitarist Jake “Spyder” Pugh in the crew, Wednesday’s tour schedule is still absolutely popping off — including a night at Madison Square Garden opening for Bleachers this September. And last night at the Roadrunner in Boston, they managed to pull off what I think is a really good April Fool’s joke by opening with a snippet of Manning Fireworks‘ title track.
