A couple of weeks ago, alt-rock institution Weezer released the Gold Album, which they recorded with producers Kenneth Blume and Klas Åhlund. Every new Weezer album seems like it’s partly an excuse to kick off another big tour, and another big tour is now underway. For the next month and a half, Weezer will hit arenas across America on their Gathering tour, which also includes openers the Shins and Silversun Pickups. (They’ll bring another version to Europe with Taking Back Sunday next year.) The tour started on Tuesday night at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center, and Weezer’s set included a bunch of songs that they haven’t played live in a long time.
