Back in the spring, Grimes began teasing a new album called Psy Opera, as perfectly on-brand a title as I can imagine for this artist. As Grimes explained it, Psy Opera is a concept album about the potential for human extinction at the hands of AI that also stemmed from her belief that humans are not as inferior as some big AI acolytes claim. Although she has long been an AI enthusiast, she clarified that she does not use generative AI in her music, including this upcoming AI-inspired concept album. This week she added that 70 humans worked on the trailer she dropped on Wednesday over a period of many months. She did admit to using Deepseek to come up with lyrics for a song about Deepseek.
