Both solo and as a member of projects like Palberta and My Idea, Lily Konigsberg used to be a prolific force in indie-pop, so it’s surprising that today’s new single marks her first release in four years. We’re glad to have her back in action. “Free Byrd” is a pop song with a skip in its step. There’s some real verve in those guitar parts, that drumbeat, and Konigsberg’s ever-shifting conversational melodies.
